I am sure for a lot of you there is a lot of concern regarding preparing for Q4 2020.
Q4 is a huge time for e-commerce, but this year definitely seems different considering there is so much uncertainty in the world. For Q4 you are thinking about inventory, promotions, marketing… the list goes on and on. And now, Amazon may be throwing another wrench into all your planning by moving Prime Day to October! This hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but news outlets have been saying Amazon is moving Prime Day AGAIN and this time to October 2020. So what does that mean for sellers? Will we have to prep for Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the holidays back to back?
With the uncertainty of Q4 Amazon has put together a few offers to help brands navigate these unchartered waters. Check out these updates from Amazon:
Inventory Performance Index Threshold Change:
Amazon will be changing the Inventory Performance Index (IPI) minimum threshold requirement to 500. Sellers below 500 will be subject to limits effective August 16, 2020 through the end of the year. Luckily, most sellers will not be impacted by this change. Most sellers with IPI scores below 500 will have more storage space than last year.
Quantity Limits:
Amazon will be introducing ASIN-level quantity limits on products in FBA warehouses. A majority of products will have enough inventory space available to cover over three months of sales.
Free Removals Promotion:
To reduce storage fees for products that have not been selling and create room for more productive inventory, Amazon is offering a free removal fee promotion for a limited time. They will waive fees for any removal order submitted beginning July 14, 2020.
Do you have an IPI of 500 or below? Are you not sure what your quantity limits are per product? Should you create a removal order?
