What’s New on Amazon: When is Prime Day 2020 Happening?

What’s New on Amazon: When is Prime Day 2020 Happening?

Every year we are always anticipating the answer to the question, “When will Amazon Prime Day be?”

Usually it falls around mid-July each year, but as we are all aware there are some special circumstances this year that will most likely delay it to at least August 2020, according to our sources at Amazon.

There are a lot of questions and concerns being had by sellers, but the real question is, “How can I prepare for Prime Day post-COVID?”

Obviously, there has never been a Prime Day like this one and there are new factors at play as you prepare your strategy. A good amount of you most likely have experienced a slowdown in your supply chain. Maybe you are still restricted to send inventory into Amazon. Perhaps you are still seeing excessive ship times on your FBA products. Regardless of the particulars, we can all agree this Prime Day poses to be very different than any of the years previous.

With all of this in mind, how will you tackle it?

For starters, make sure you are planning ahead when it comes to inventory and promotional planning. For example, a few of you most likely have Prime Day deals available in your Deals tab. Have you booked them and do you know what your offer will be?

For inventory, we suggest you start working on ordering the inventory for Prime Day NOW. Do not wait to talk to your suppliers and manufacturers about this. They are likely going to be swamped as well, so you want to be very clear with what you need.

For promotional planning, we suggest you start planning now and make sure you are thinking outside the box this year! Keep in mind, a good amount of customers JUST joined Prime for the first time ever this year, in response to the virus. This new pool of customers will only increase the magnitude of this shopping day and you better prepare for your best Prime Day yet!

Tune in to our Facebook Live this Wednesday in our Facebook group to discuss with Jenna how you should plan your inventory and promotions to take advantage of this year’s Prime Day!

What’s New on Amazon: With Every Challenge Comes Great Opportunities

In the wake of the Coronavirus, we are facing a lot of uncertainty and the realization of a new normal.

This is a challenging time for everyone but it is especially challenging for those of you that are running small businesses. During these challenging times, it is sometimes hard to see the opportunities that will come out on the other side. So we figured we can help point you in the right direction to hopefully grasp some of these opportunities!

Catalog Expansion: It sounds like a bold move during times like these but hear us out! During this pandemic everyone is hurting including your manufacturers and suppliers, now is the perfect time to start having those discussions with your suppliers to see if there are better pricing options or if there is an opportunity for new products to add to your catalog!

Stuck on what new products to add? We would suggest you adjust to the current times and environment, as we are defining a new category of items deemed as “essential” for people that are staying at home more. Use that information to find new products that will be in high demand that will consistently drive sales for you!

Channel Expansion: Obviously you know our team here at TurnKey are big supporters of Amazon but we do not think that anyone should only be selling on Amazon. This life-altering event truly showed how important it is to diversify your sales channels, and avoid being paralyzed when things like FBA or other sales restrictions hit.

With that being said, consider being a part of other sales channels like:

  • Walmart.com
  • Chewy.com
  • Your own website

Marketing-with-a-Cause Initiative: Do you have the ability to give back in times like these? A way to push sales while also making a difference during this time is to get involved with charities that are helping during the pandemic. This way you are making a difference and that alone will resonate with your customers for years to come. They will remember how you stepped up!

What’s New on Amazon: Amazon Storefront Gets Another Upgrade

What’s New on Amazon: Amazon Storefront Gets Another Upgrade

When was the last time you updated your Amazon Storefront?

The Amazon Storefront is one of our favorite Amazon tools here at TurnKey. This Amazon tool is constantly undergoing new additions and functions that our team suggests you revisit often and update your Amazon storefront at a minimum quarterly.

It is a great place to express brand personality while also encompassing all of your products into one easily accessible spot! A new addition to the Amazon Storefront arsenal is “Shoppable Image.” Using this feature, you are able to bring your images to life by using the “click to shop” function.

Through this feature you are able to showcase 6 different products and make them shoppable which basically means on the specific image, customers can click or hover over the image to see basic information like the product name, price, review count, and the Prime Badge. This then allows customers to add the product to their cart or it can take them to the detail page for more information.

In order to get the most out of this feature, our team suggests you use a lifestyle image like the one shown here. This will allow the “Shoppable Image” function to flow well!  We believe this will be a truly powerful feature to your Storefront because it allows customers to engage and of course click around your Storefront.

This feature paired with video, Amazon Storefront tags, and all of the other strong storefront features available are sure to drive engagement and sales on your Amazon Storefront, all while helping track the external traffic you send to your store.

Be sure to be updating your Storefront with the latest and greatest tools Amazon has to offer. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Have you ever wondered what your repeat customer percentage is?

Using the Repeat Purchase Behavior report in Brand Analytics you can now keep better track of those repeat purchases. You can find this report by heading to Brand Analytics which is located under the reports tab.

What’s New on Amazon: Have you heard of the new Amazon Advertising portal?

What’s New on Amazon: Have you heard of the new Amazon Advertising portal?

In the midst of all these crazy times, Amazon came out with a big announcement that will be affecting all sellers soon!

They have decided to officially move the Amazon PPC platform to the Amazon Advertising console. For those of you that have not used the Amazon Advertising console, it is very similar to Seller Central’s platform with just minor tweaks!

As Amazon makes this adjustment, your campaigns, stores, and all advertising related reporting will move to the console and out of Seller Central.

To access your PPC ads, you will continue to use the same login information and will even be able to access the new console through Seller Central. According to Amazon, the navigation between the two platforms will be simple and you will be able to access both from one or the other.

Amazon decided to make this adjustment to give sellers easier navigation and new notification and support features.

According to Amazon, sellers will start to see this migration in the coming months! This is great news for Amazon sellers because it shows Amazon is listening to feedback and will hopefully be able to provide additional support for PPC.

What’s New on Amazon: Coronavirus and How to Take Action NOW

What’s New on Amazon: Coronavirus and How to Take Action NOW

The Latest and Most Up to Date Amazon Update Admidst COVID-19

Alright, let’s jump into these updates and how you can take action.

The first big update came last Thursday, March 26th, outlining how Amazon will be dealing with inbound inventory for the time being. They have expanded the types of products they will allow to be added to their inventory on a case by case basis.

They are choosing those products based on:

  • Demand of the product
  • Current inventory levels
  • Inventory in transit
  • Fulfillment Center Capacity

In order for you to see if your products are now eligible for restocking, please check your “Restock Inventory” page and your “Restock Reports”.

If you are able to restock inventory, send inventory in as soon as possible. Amazon may be allowing you to send inventory in now, but that can always change so it is important to send inventory in while you can.

If you are unable to restock inventory, continue to check your Restock page and Report daily to see if you can send inventory in. Hopefully, Amazon will continue to open this up to all sellers ASAP.

Another update… on March 30th, reports came in that certain Amazon fulfillment employees were staging a strike due to the unsafe working conditions in the wake of the Coronavirus.

That being said, it is now more important than ever to get FBM listings and fulfillment set up regardless of if you are able to send inventory into FBA or not. The reason being is there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Amazon FBA warehouses like potential strikes and month-long shipping times. Nothing is guaranteed right now with FBA, so it is important you are taking these precautionary steps to help your Amazon business stay active.
